Well hello and thanks for dropping into our brand new blog! We’ve been so excited to launch Travelling Oz Our Way and I hope you like the look and feel of our site. I guess I need to explain a little about why we’ve made this big step and answer some questions you may have.
We have been travelling in Australia and overseas for many years. At the end of 2020, we made the decision to leave our jobs and travel full time. Now we did NOT sell our house to fund our trip. We have been working long and hard for many years and we already had a car and caravan. So we just needed to organise our affairs and our belongings, then decide where we were going.
COVID helped or defined this decision - we could only travel in Queensland! That was just perfect for us as it was our home state for many years but there were many places we hadn't visited. To keep our families updated on our travels we set up our social media sites with Instagram (for the youngies), Facebook (for the oldies) and YouTube (just because we could).
We have had so much fun posting our adventures and learning about social media along the way. We were very new to this and there was a lot to learn. However, as we grew in confidence so did our followers. The travelling community are just amazing! As we travelled, we were after information, inspiration and advice. We also found we were getting lots of questions and inquiries about places to visit, recommendations for places to stay, advice on travelling & caravanning and much more.
The idea to create a blog and ultimately a website was developed! It has taken a long time to get things organised and although I have some knowledge about technology, at times it tested my patience. As a lifelong learner (yes I am an educator) I did what all good students do and I read, watched videos, took advice from experts, failed and tried again. There is something very fulfilling about creating something and learning new things.
We really love our brand of Travelling Oz Our Way, as travelling is all about doing it your way! Sure you go to places others have been to, but ultimately you do what you want to do and experience it in a way that suits you.
What you can expect from our blog are destination guides, travel tips, packing guides, recommendations and of course lots of pictures from places we've been. If you have a question regarding travel or blogging, just send us a message. We are always happy to help you out and hopefully catch up one day.
